Of course, in most cases, parents will do everything to accompany their minor child on the flight, but life shows that situations are different. Therefore, it is better to be prepared for them.

Age restrictions

There are two options for a child traveling alone by plane:

  • completely independent flight (a minor is treated as an adult passenger);
  • under the supervision of air carrier employees (both on board and at the airport).

The procedure for air transportation of passengers, incl. minors without parents on the territory of the Russian Federation are regulated by Federal Air Transportation Regulations No. 82 of 2007. The main condition for flying accompanied by company employees is the age of the passenger, which, according to this document, should not be less than 2 years. Upon reaching 12 years of age, a child can do without staff supervision. But in practice, each company decides on the basis of its own internal regulations. In addition, in the case of international flights, it is necessary to take into account the rules in force in other countries.

Typically, the child accompanying service is provided by the carrier for passengers at least 5 years old. In most cases, younger children are not allowed to fly unaccompanied by an adult passenger. Accompanying a child is usually required if he is under 15 years of age. In this case, parents must order the appropriate service in advance and complete the necessary documents. Older teenagers can fly alone, but they are usually accompanied until they are 16-17 years old. Aeroflot and British Airways allow children to fly independently from the age of 12; Delta, KLM from the age of 14; the presence of parents may only be required to check in for the flight (when flying abroad).

Note! In the case of a flight with transfers, special attention is paid to the question of at what age can you fly on an airplane without the presence of parents. Until the age of 8, a child can be accompanied by staff only on direct flights. Transfers when flying without parents are allowed only at an older age. Thus, children 5-7 years old are allowed to make connecting flights only with their parents or other accompanying persons (not representatives of the air carrier). Children and teenagers who fly on their own can change planes without the supervision of airline employees.

First solo flight

One way or another, it is necessary to clarify the conditions of each specific organization, which are always present on the official websites. Useful information can be gleaned from passenger reviews on the Internet. Allowing a child to fly alone, without an accompanying adult, is not the responsibility of carriers; any of them has the right to establish their own rules and restrictions. In particular, many low-cost airlines (WizzAir, Ryanair), with the exception of Pobeda, do not provide the service of accompanying children (either at the airport or on planes). If you plan to send your child alone, you will have to choose another airline or fly with him. Sometimes minors can fly without parents only if there are no transfers, which means there is no need to organize supervision at the connecting airport. Or children may be prohibited from flying on the same night flights or abroad.

How to send an unaccompanied child on a plane

If there is a need for a minor to travel independently, you must first familiarize yourself with the rules of the airline you have chosen for the flight.

There are two transportation options:

  1. Unaccompanied (child flies alone).
  2. With support (the service is provided for a fee, a responsible person is appointed).

Usually, children from 5 to 12 years old are transported only with an escort due to their age.

Children from 12 years old can fly independently, but some airlines increase the age to 15 years.

The fact that a child can fly alone on an airplane does not mean that he or she cannot be accompanied. At the request of the parents, the escort service can be purchased for both a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old teenager. Some airlines provide this service for up to 17 years.

What possible restrictions do parents need to know:

  1. The minimum age of a child that most airlines are willing to carry is 5 years. Only a few foreign air carriers take responsibility for transporting children under 5 years of age.
  2. Some companies do not have an escort service, and many low-cost airlines completely refuse to transport minor children without legal representatives.
  3. Children from 5 to 8 years old can fly without parents only on direct flights without transfers. From 8 to 11 years old, a flight with a transfer is allowed, but under the supervision of an accompanying airline representative. From the age of 12, children can transfer to another flight independently.
  4. Not all airlines take children on a flight with a long layover, as this is an additional responsibility.

Procedure

Sending a small child or teenager by air to another city or abroad is an exciting procedure for every parent. To feel calmer and give confidence to your child, you need to study all the nuances of the process in advance.

The algorithm of actions should be approximately as follows:

  1. It is necessary to call the airline representative in advance and find out if they have available seats for a child who requires an accompaniment or who will be flying alone. The number of such places is limited. No more than 4 children can fly on one plane without parents.
  2. Arrive at the airport, fill out an application and buy a ticket for your child. This can be done at any time, but the sooner before departure, the better. The ticket price is paid in full without child discounts. In such cases, purchasing air tickets for children online or through intermediaries is unacceptable. Registration only at ticket offices or sales offices of a specific airline.
  3. Write an application for an escort service, if there is a need for it. The service can only be ordered by legal representatives, parents upon presentation of an identity document. Pay for the service.
  4. On the day of departure, come with your child to check-in at the airport and bring all the necessary documents. Online pre-registration is not permitted.

Required documents

To send a young traveler alone, you will need to submit the necessary documents when checking in for the flight. Remember that your application must be written when purchasing an air ticket.

What documents are needed:

  1. Birth certificate or passport, if already 14 years old, for flights within Russia.
  2. A foreign passport, regardless of age (it is issued from birth) - for flights abroad.
  3. Visa if necessary.
  4. Parents' permission to travel abroad, notarized (it indicates the period of stay and the country of residence).
  5. Power of attorney from legal representatives if a third party delivers the child to the airport.
  6. Application from parents indicating all necessary information.
  7. Receipt for payment for escort services.
  8. Air ticket.

Persons sending and receiving a child must have identification documents with them. The data must match the data in the application. Sometimes it is necessary to fill out separate forms for those meeting and seeing off, indicating detailed information.

After checking in for the flight, all documents are collected and packaged in a special bright envelope with the inscription “UM”, meaning “unaccompanied minor”. This envelope is hung around the neck of a small passenger.

During long flights, complicated by transfers and transits, as well as when flying abroad, you should clarify the need for additional documents with the consulate of the country of arrival, since different countries have different laws and border regulations.

How to write an application for a flight without parents

The application must be filled out when purchasing an air ticket at the airport ticket office. The form can be downloaded on the Internet or obtained from employees at the airport. The application must indicate:

  1. Child details (full name, age, gender, language of communication, residential address, telephone number).
  2. Flight information (flight number, flight date, origin and destination).
  3. Details of the person accompanying the shipment (full name, address, phone number).
  4. Details of the meeting person (full name, address, phone number).
  5. Parents' contact information.
  6. Details of the personnel responsible for the child (full name, signatures).

A sample application can be viewed here.

Three copies are made of the written application. The original is attached to the air ticket, one copy at a time is sent to the airport of departure, the airport of arrival, and the next carrier (if there is a transfer).

How is support carried out?

Can pregnant women fly on an airplane?

The child's parents or other accompanying adults are responsible for the child's arrival at the airport and check-in for the flight. You will also need to issue an accompanying document with a representative of the carrier, which details all the details of the flight. Together with other papers, it will be transferred with the child at all stages. Only after that the young passenger can be sent with an appropriate employee who will accompany him until he boards the plane: he will go through hand luggage control, passport control, escort him to the boarding gate, if necessary, take him to the toilet, etc. Then the child is received by a flight attendant who will look after him on the plane: bring water or warm up food (if it was prepared at home), monitor his well-being, simply pay attention and calm him down, for example, during turbulence. She is responsible for it until it lands at the destination airport and is handed over to the airline's local ground representative. If there is a transfer, he will look after the client in the transfer area until boarding the connecting flight, where one of the flight attendants will take over.

Each carrier organizes the provision of the service in its own way, in particular, in those entrusted to it, children are first escorted to boarding and then parents are informed about the departure. And after landing, the accompanied children are escorted to the airport building as a priority. In case of a transfer, when the wait in the transit zone is more than 3 hours, Pobeda employees order lunch in advance for accompanying children.

Personalized service for children flying without parents

If there is no other flight planned, the accompanying employee will help the child go through document control, get baggage and will stay with him until the meeting with the receiving party. If the greeter has problems, the employee will continue to look after the young passenger in the waiting room. If unforeseen circumstances of any kind arise, the carrier's representatives coordinate their actions with the parents of the minor and coordinate them with the receiving party. If it is not possible to hand over the child to those meeting at the airport, he can be delivered to the agreed address or sent to the departure airport. At all stages, a package of relevant documents is sent along with the child.

Escort service

The presence of an escort service makes the procedure easier for both parents and the children themselves. Not every child can comfortably survive a flight alone, especially if it is their first time. And parents will feel more relaxed if their child is supervised.

The essence of the service is that special airline employees will help the child comfortably overcome all stages of an airplane flight: boarding, flight, landing. He will be fed, entertained, reassured, escorted to the toilet and provided with a friendly atmosphere.

How does accompaniment take place?

Escort is divided into two types: ground and during the flight. The whole process looks like this:

  1. The airline representative responsible for the escort accepts documents from the senders and the child himself.
  2. Walks with the client to check-in and helps with luggage check-in.
  3. Next, they undergo an inspection procedure.
  4. The accompanying person brings the ward to the plane and hands him over to the flight attendants. After this, he informs the parents that their child is already on board the plane.
  5. Flight attendants place the child and help him get comfortable.
  6. During the flight, the flight attendant monitors the young passenger, helps him go to the toilet, monitors his nutrition, helps him have fun, and gives recommendations.
  7. After landing, the flight attendant hands the child and his documents to the airline representative at the arrival airport.
  8. The new escort helps him go through all the documentary formalities and get his luggage.
  9. He brings him to the waiting room and hands him over to the receiving party, comparing the data in the application and in the identification documents.

Unaccompanied children are always given great consideration. They are given entertainment packages, offered a different menu to choose from, created a friendly atmosphere, and calmed down if necessary. If the flight is connecting, during the connection the children are taken to the playrooms, where they have everything they need: TV, toys, drawing sets, etc.

Important! If the meeting person is not there, an airline employee contacts the parents and discusses further actions: send them back home or to what address to deliver the child. In this case, the legal representatives will cover all expenses.

Cost of support service

You need to understand that this service is not free. To hand over a child to an airline employee at the departure airport, you need to provide him with documents, which must include a receipt for payment for the service. It is recommended to pay for the service in advance.

The cost will depend on various factors (age, flight distance, availability of transfers, etc.). Each airline has its own prices, they vary between 3,000 rubles on domestic flights and 40-50 euros on international flights. For example, at Pobeda escort costs 3,000 rubles, and at Aeroflot the service will cost 3,400 rubles for each leg of the journey across Russia (if there is a transfer, you will have to pay another 3,400 rubles). When flying abroad, you will have to pay 40 euros for each leg of the journey with Aeroflot.

Buying a ticket

Is it possible to carry alcohol on a plane?

So, the trip is planned, the airline is selected, and it is found out whether it is possible to arrange for the child to be accompanied by its employees. Now you need to complete the documents.

Important! To purchase an air ticket and order the service of accompanying a minor, it is better to contact directly the air carrier’s office, a ticket sales point, or at least a travel agency. In other words, it is important that the sale is carried out by a qualified employee who can additionally advise parents on the specifics of the service and competently fill out a reservation with a request for support. Then, if the company responds positively, he will competently complete the purchase procedure or interrupt it if the service is refused.

Children from 5 years old can fly independently

In any case, you need to make sure whether you can use the escort service for a particular flight. The fact is that on the 1st flight the crew can provide care for a limited number of children. Therefore, it is better to purchase a ticket in advance: this will give you a better chance of getting consent to accompany your child. When ordering a ticket with an escort service, you will need to indicate the age of the young passenger and fill out a standard form (for children under 13 years of age), which details the route and details of the party who is meeting you (last name, first name, patronymic, contact phone number , address).

General rules and restrictions

During the flight, minor travelers must be accompanied by relatives or airline employees. A flight attendant is required to look after a small air passenger if he is alone on board the plane, or his parents are in another cabin (class) of the same plane. Accompaniment begins from the moment of check-in and receipt of your boarding pass. The airline employees responsible for the little passenger look after him until the airliner lands. After which the minor is given personal responsibility to the adult who meets him. Accompanying children on a passenger plane is documented with an accompanying document.

Each airline company sets its own rules and restrictions regarding the carriage of its air passengers. Parents can use the accompanying service if the little traveler is over 5 years old. Accompanying is mandatory for children from 5 to 12 years old, and in some airlines up to 15 years old. At the request of relatives, representatives of the air carrier will be able to accompany air passengers who are between 16 and 18 years old at the time of the flight.

You must book your airline pass 36 hours before takeoff. In some companies this needs to be done 2 days before the flight. You must first order the food that will be fed to the little passenger during the flight. For a minor traveler, the cost of the air ticket will be full, plus relatives will have to pay for the accompanying service.

What documents need to be prepared

Since traveling alone for a child is still an unusual situation, additional paperwork will be required. They are designed to legitimize such movement of the passenger and record the main details of the escort, if required. Documents required in this situation include:

  1. an application from the parents for the carrier to provide accompanying persons (usually there is a standard form posted on the company’s website, it indicates various details of the child, as well as information about the receiving party: full name, passport details, contact phone numbers, addresses of all possible people meeting, if not known, who exactly will come to the airport);
  2. an accompanying document (it contains the details of all the carrier’s employees who will be responsible for the child during the trip, and is drawn up directly at the airport before departure);
  3. consent of both parents of the child to cross the border (when independently flying abroad to the Russian Federation under the age of 18, it is drawn up and certified by a notary, contains information about the country to which he can fly and the length of stay).

When filling out, all data must be carefully checked with the documents. If inaccuracies are made, the accompaniment may be refused or the process of handing over the child may be interrupted. In addition to the above papers, you will need, as for regular flights, an air ticket, a passenger identification card (passport or birth certificate for flights within Russia) and a visa of the country of destination or transfer (if necessary).

Young travelers are accompanied into the airport building

At what age can a child fly without an adult?

At what age can a child fly on an airplane unaccompanied by an adult? Young air travelers can fly on their own if they are over 12 years old. True, some air carriers allow a child to be on board an airliner during a flight only from the age of 15.

At what age can you fly on an airplane without being accompanied by your family? Little air travelers over 5 years old are allowed to fly without their parents, although accompanied by one representative of the air carrier. This service is paid. It must be ordered for minors aged 5 to 12 years flying independently. From 12 to 16 years old, accompanying services are provided at the request of the parents. In some cases, you can ask a flight attendant to look after a teenager between 16 and 18 years old.

Procedure at the airport when accompanied

Some necessary documents need to be completed with airline employees, so it is better to arrive at the airport with plenty of time. For the same reason, the child cannot arrive alone; one of the parents or another adult authorized to accompany him must be present with him. He is also required to carry a photo ID. After drawing up the accompanying document and application (if it was not prepared in advance), the child is handed over to the responsible representative of the carrier. In this case, parents have the right to ask him to provide an identification document and confirmation of authority. Once the child has been handed over to the responsible officer, the adult who previously accompanied him must remain at the airport until the plane takes off. The meeting party at the point of arrival will be able to pick up the minor from the carrier’s representative only upon presentation of his/her identity card, also with a photograph.

In what cases and who has the right to use the service?

Parents and legal guardians of a small air passenger have the right to use the accompanying service. He can fly to relatives, on vacation, abroad. A minor air traveler must be accompanied by his parents and met by an adult. Grandparents, brothers and sisters will not be able to send the baby home or on vacation. During the flight, the air passenger is looked after by a flight attendant or a company employee. They help him check in for a flight, get a boarding pass, check in luggage, and in some cases, go through passport control.

Unaccompanied children will not be left without the attention of adults on board the ship. They will be offered drinks, food, shown to the toilet and will be looked after until they arrive at the airport. After landing, the little passenger will be helped to retrieve his luggage and given to the meeting adult.

If for some reason no one comes for the children, an airline employee will contact the parents and the person who was required to meet the child upon arrival.

In advance, the airline collects all the necessary information about the adults to whom they will transfer the minor traveler. If no one comes for small air passengers, the company returns them back (departure airport).

Little traveler's luggage

If a child has to fly independently, even under the supervision of flight attendants, it is important to properly prepare items for hand luggage. Even if the flight is short, it is better to play it safe and anticipate the occurrence of various situations. This will make the journey more relaxing for both the young passenger and the aircraft staff. It is worth paying attention to the following items:

  • , , , (the air in the aircraft cabin is usually dry), etc.;
  • wet wipes so you can wash your hands at any time and have a snack;
  • lollipops - for takeoff and landing (not all companies distribute them);
  • things for entertainment: a book, a tablet with cartoons or games, a favorite toy;
  • drinks – you can purchase them after checking your hand luggage or stock up on an empty bottle that the flight attendant can fill with water;
  • food - starting from small things to snack on (sweets, nuts, cookies, washed fruits, etc.), and ending with a full lunch, which the flight attendant will heat up on the plane.

Flying without parents is permitted under certain conditions

The child will probably be excited and happy about being on board without parents, but at the moment of turbulence or a sharp change in pressure, he may begin to worry or become afraid. Then a successfully captured toy, favorite cookie or cartoon will play a role - they will allow the child to be distracted and calm down faster.

Additional Information. One of the main services for small air passengers is a special menu. But it is not provided in all cases, and children may have individual food preferences, so a lunch taken from home can be very helpful. Also, the child is usually allocated one of the safer and more comfortable seats, not in the emergency exit row. If it is necessary to keep a young passenger under supervision, he is often placed in the front rows, in full view of the flight attendants. Some companies are developing targeted programs that make a child feel like a VIP client (Junior Jet).

Do I need parental permission?

The rule on the need to authorize at least one decision applies to travel abroad. It, in the form of a notarized consent, is provided for in Art. 20 Law on the procedure for leaving Russia FZ-114 of 08/15/1996 There is no such provision in the legislation regarding movement within Russia. The Federal Aviation Regulations also do not say anywhere that a child or accompanying person must have permission from his parents to travel within Russia.

At the same time, let us clarify that you can fly abroad with the consent of at least one parent. And in Art. 21 FZ-114 states the rule for a parent to declare his disagreement with the child leaving the Russian Federation. In this case, the issue of departure is resolved in court.

Thus, do you need parental permission for a child to travel around Russia by plane? No, permission specifically for a flight is not needed. However, from 2021, in accordance with the new Rules for the provision of hotel services, approved by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1853 of November 18, 2020. a power of attorney for accompanying persons (including relatives) for children under 14 years of age is required for check-in at hotels.

Video

Thus, flying without parents is a very feasible solution if adults cannot accompany a minor. In the case of teenagers, the situation is quite simple - they can fly alone, they only need written permission from the adults in charge when traveling abroad. For younger children, in most cases you can use an escort from the carrier. Additional documents will need to be completed, but in this case the child will also be supervised. Carefully thought out accompanying procedures make this travel option reliable and safe, and also affordable. And the child gets an incomparable and exciting experience of independent travel.

Rules for transporting unaccompanied children abroad

All of the above applies to the rules for transporting children on international flights, but it is worth adding some points. Namely:

  1. To fly abroad, a child of any age will need a foreign passport.
  2. To send a minor to another country, the consent and permission of both parents to travel abroad is required. Such permission is issued by a notary.
  3. On international flights with connections, children over 12 years of age are permitted.

Important! It is advisable to issue a power of attorney to a specific person (airline representative) who will be responsible for your child. Without such a power of attorney, no one bears legal responsibility for your child.

At what age should children sit in separate seats on an airplane?

The rules for flying a child without parents are regulated by Order of the Ministry of Transport No. 82 dated June 28, 2007. According to this regulatory act, parents need to know the following:

  1. An unaccompanied child can fly on an airplane alone or under the supervision of employees, if this is permitted by the airline’s internal rules.
  2. The cost of a ticket for children is equal to the cost of an adult ticket. There are no child discounts.
  3. Baggage allowance is the same as for an adult ticket.
  4. Parents are required to provide appropriate permission (usually a statement).
  5. The escort service can be issued up to 17 years of age (depending on the internal regulations of the airlines).
  6. During one flight, no more than 4 unaccompanied children are allowed to be carried on board the aircraft.
  7. When transporting children in groups, the issue is discussed with a specific airline and the same permission documents are required from parents.
  8. To transport an incapacitated child, parents must write a petition to the air carrier and obtain permission.
  9. When transporting other incapacitated or disabled people on board the aircraft, for safety reasons the number of seats for unaccompanied children may be reduced.

The planes of the popular Russian carrier can transport children of all ages, including infants.

  1. Children from birth to 5 years old can travel by air only if accompanied by an adult.
  2. The company allows children from 0 to 2 years of age to be transported free of charge to domestic destinations in the arms of an adult accompanying person, without purchasing a separate ticket.

Flying with a baby

The company allows children in their first days of life to be transported on the plane. Transportation of the baby immediately after birth is carried out under special conditions. Parents or other legal representatives are required to sign a document releasing the carrier from responsibility for the health and well-being of the infant after air travel.

The carrier may also require a medical document confirming the healthy condition of the baby and permission from the pediatrician to travel by air. We also suggest that you read: traveling by plane with children under 3 years old.

The Russia company offers passengers with children special conditions for air travel. Some aircraft have special mounts for securing a baby bassinet. Parents can also carry a stroller for their child on the ship for free. It can be taken into the cabin as hand luggage if the size of the case does not exceed the dimensions - 55x42x20 cm.

If the stroller being transported is large, the company will offer transportation in the cargo compartment of the aircraft as checked baggage. Parents can use the stroller until the plane steps, after which it will be sent to the luggage compartment and issued immediately after the aircraft arrives at its destination.

Important: passengers traveling with babies from birth to 2 years can transport a stroller on a Russian plane for free. We also suggest that you familiarize yourself with the requirements for the carriage of baggage and hand luggage on a Russian plane.

The airline also allows you to take a car seat or other restraint device for your baby into the cabin. But these accessories can only be used if you have a child’s ticket, which provides a separate passenger seat to accommodate the child.

Russia Airlines provides a 50% discount on a ticket for a child aged 2 to 12 years. All tariff plan privileges apply to minor passengers.

Disabled children can purchase air tickets at a special rate. The size of the benefit for passengers with disabilities is ambiguous, as it depends on the direction of the flight and the child’s disability group. You can read about who is entitled to discounted plane tickets here.

Children aged 2 to 12 years are transported accompanied by an adult passenger or a passenger who, in accordance with the civil legislation of the Russian Federation, has acquired full legal capacity before reaching the age of eighteen.

Children from 2 to 12 years old are allowed free baggage allowance according to the norm established for passengers who have paid a normal or special fare. If in these cases baggage is carried in an amount exceeding the free baggage allowance, then it is paid at the appropriate baggage rate.

Up to list

A child under the age of two, as well as a disabled child under the age of twelve, can be transported only when accompanied by an adult passenger or a passenger who, in accordance with the civil legislation of the Russian Federation, has acquired full legal capacity before reaching the age of eighteen.

An infant under 2 years of age must always be transported only when accompanied by an adult passenger or a passenger who, in accordance with the civil legislation of the Russian Federation, has acquired full legal capacity before reaching the age of eighteen. There is no separate chair for the baby; he/she sits on the lap of an adult.

If an adult is traveling with more than one infant under two years of age, one infant may sit on the lap of the accompanying adult while the other children are carried in separate seats.

The total number of infants not occupying a separate seat when transported on board an aircraft is limited to 10% (no more than 11 people).

Infants under 14 days of age are not permitted to fly.

On international airlines, for the carriage of one child under 2 years of age, not occupying a separate seat and accompanied by an adult passenger, 10% of the corresponding normal or special fare for an accompanying adult passenger is paid, unless there are special conditions for the application of this fare.

On Domestic airlines, the carriage of one child under 2 years of age, not occupying a separate seat and accompanied by an adult passenger, is not paid for, unless there are special conditions for the application of this fare. In this case, transportation of an infant at this rate is carried out in the arms of an accompanying adult passenger without providing the baby with a separate seat.

Children under 2 years old who are provided with confirmed seats (by decision of the accompanying passenger) are paid at the rate for children from 2 to 12 years old.

Transportation by one adult passenger of the second and subsequent children under 2 years of age is paid at the rate applicable for children from 2 to 12 years of age.

A group of passengers is passengers traveling together and for the same purpose on one or more route segments for which seat reservations are required and to which a group fare may be applied.

The baggage of passengers traveling in a group is registered individually for each passenger, with data entered in the baggage receipt of each passenger. The ticket of one of the passengers in the group contains a record of the number of people in the group.

Baggage is checked out individually for each passenger, with the exception of family and close relatives.

You can order air tickets at group fares on the entire route network of our airline by filling out an application on the website.

In order to ensure aviation safety, the Airline does not accept passengers who require oxygen for medical purposes.

Transportation of a patient on a stretcher is carried out in agreement with the Carrier with the provision of additional seats on the aircraft for payment established by the carrier.

If the physical, mental condition or age of a passenger is such that the flight may cause deterioration in the health of this passenger or create danger or discomfort for other passengers, then, based on a medical examination, the airline has the right to refuse transportation to such a passenger.

Attention: for all passengers of the WCH group (passenger in a wheelchair) - prior confirmation is required.

BLND (blind passenger) - no mandatory prior confirmation required

DEAF (deaf passenger) - no mandatory prior approval required

For passengers in the WCHR* group, a mandatory medical clearance (MEDIF) is required.

*WCHR – passenger in a wheelchair. The letter "R" indicates that a wheelchair will be required on the apron.
