Travel rules on suburban routes.

There are certain rules for transporting children on a train:

  • Children under 5 years old travel free of charge.
  • For preschool children from 5 to 7 years old, tickets are offered at a reduced rate, which is 35-50% lower than the regular price.
  • After 7 years of age, travel papers are issued for a minor at full price.
  • If the trip falls on the child’s birthday, the number of years of age is taken into account.
  • There is no separate seat for a child under 5 years old.

When planning a trip with children, you should keep in mind that train tickets can be purchased at a reduced price, which is influenced by the age of the child.

A child is not allowed to be on commuter trains without an adult if he or she is under 7 years old.

Please note that there is no space available for children under 5 years old. In the case when he is transported on a separate seat, it is necessary to issue a ticket for him at a reduced price.

Benefits for long-distance routes.

Those planning a long trip should take into account that the rules for transportation on long-distance trains differ from those on suburban routes.

  • Children under 5 years old do not have to pay extra for a ticket.
  • From 5 to 10 years old, reduced fares are used to pay for children's travel.
  • If a child under 5 years old travels for free, then there is no place for him. When parents want to place it separately, they will need to buy a ticket at the current rate.
  • One child under 5 years old is allowed free travel with one adult. When you plan a trip with two children of this age, the second one is issued a ticket at a reduced rate.

Transporting children under 1 year of age on a train has its own characteristics, which are taken into account when planning the trip.

If you are traveling with an infant, you should purchase tickets for the lower shelves for safety reasons. There is no need to expect that your neighbors in a compartment or reserved seat will give up their seats; it is recommended that you take care of your own comfort and that of your baby.

From May 2021, rules for the transportation of children under one month old for whom a birth certificate has not yet been issued have come into force.

To purchase a train ticket, you must present a certificate from a medical organization. It indicates the personal data of the newborn (full name) and information about the document (number and series). Children fit into their parents' ticket.

Documents for a child's train

Anyone who buys train tickets for themselves and a child needs to know what documents and data are needed in order to get this ticket.

It doesn't matter whether you buy them online or directly from the ticket office, you need this information anyway.

Children traveling by train without adults.

Transportation of children by train without parents is subject to the following restrictions:

  • Until the age of 10, a student cannot go on a long-distance trip without an adult.
  • Minors can travel around the region where they live if they have a travel document.
  • A child from 10 to 18 years old must travel around Russia only with written permission from the parents.
  • If a minor travels in a group from an educational organization, accompanied by a teacher, then the adult must have a power of attorney and an order assigning responsibility for the life and health of the wards.

Rules for travel in railway transport take into account compliance with the following points.

  • At stops, exit to the platform is possible only in the presence of an accompanying person.
  • The transfer of a minor to parents is carried out only after they present an identity card.
  • During your trip, you must follow the rules for the safe use of public transport.
  • When stopping, children are prohibited from playing on the platform and stopping on the rails. The adults who accompany them must supervise the compliance of minors with safety rules. The carrier is not responsible for their violation.

Travel rules on long-distance trains have changed

There are no direct trains from Rostov-on-Don to Balakovo, in the Saratov region. I had to take tickets with a transfer. At the entrance to the Rostov-Glavny station building, everyone’s temperature is taken—it’s a matter of seconds. But if it’s elevated, you won’t get further.

The box office is empty. Most passengers prefer a remote form of payment. Everyone arrives at the train so as not to linger in the waiting room. There is a hand sanitizer at the entrance. There are reminders everywhere to maintain social distancing of one and a half meters. Station employees, police officers and passengers are wearing masks. Numerous shops are closed, cafes are closed.

And so, having passed all the cordons, I found myself on the platform. By the way, back in May, Russian Railways had restrictions on the sale of tickets - trains had to be filled to a maximum of half, no more than two in a compartment and three per compartment in a reserved seat. Today there are no such restrictions.

But I was lucky. Still, I was alone in the compartment. So I boldly took off my mask on the way to the Tambov region, where I had a transfer with a three-hour wait.

Michurinsk greeted me with excellent weather. In full gear - wearing a mask and gloves - I got off the train. And to my surprise, it seemed like I was in pre-quarantine times.

- The pies are hot! - came immediately from the open tent, outside which a small queue had formed.

- Ice cream! Buy ice cream! - they shouted nearby.

- Sweet Michurin apples! Honey pears!

At the same time, the sellers were not wearing masks, not to mention gloves.

At the entrance to the Michurinsk-Uralsky station building, police officers are also without masks. Few passengers got out. For some, like me, it was a transit station. Someone headed straight for the exit to the city.

I expected that upon arrival we would be greeted by doctors. Well, or at least some kind of control over visitors will be exercised. However, I was wrong. It turned out to be easier than ever for any passenger to get out into the city without hindrance.

- Girl, where are you going? — a young taxi driver jumped up to me. And when he learned that I just needed to wait a couple of hours, he offered me coffee, pointing to a small pavilion.

- It's cheaper there than from a machine gun.

Michurinsk is officially recognized as a science city and bears the name of the famous breeder.

“It used to be the city of Kozlov, and then it was renamed,” said a casual acquaintance of mine. — How are we with the coronavirus? No way! I'm not afraid of him. There just aren't enough passengers.

My train was announced here. This time I had reserved seat tickets. The carriage is more than half full. Some are wearing masks, some are not. Two railway shift workers were riding next to me. On the side is a young man who was reading a book all the way.

The shift workers were in the mood for a conversation. But I, adjusting my mask, said that I was afraid of the coronavirus and would sleep.

Despite the fairly large number of people, it was quiet in the carriage. People try to communicate less with each other. They ask for tea and coffee less and less often: they use their own cups.

And now the second 12 hours of the journey are over. In the morning, the train director walked through the carriage to take the passengers' temperatures. If someone was sleeping, the temperature was measured with a device that looked like a pistol.

— If someone has an elevated level, we inform the doctors. According to the rules established by Rospotrebnadzor, an ambulance will arrive at such passengers at the next station and they will be removed from the train.

- And does this happen often? — I asked.

- Not often, but it happened... Since a person did not reach his destination against his own will, he will then be able to continue his journey for free on the same ticket after recovery.

In our carriage, everyone’s temperature turned out to be normal.

And here Balakovo is a city of nuclear energy. At one time, my relatives from the Don went to the construction of the Balakovo nuclear power plant, and stayed there.

The town in the Saratov region is small - about a hundred thousand inhabitants. But they greet those arriving there as if they see everyone as a potential patient.

— Go to the coronavirus tent. Keep the queue! — the station employee directed me to the huge tent of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Nearby is a large trailer. There are epidemiologists who look like astronauts, dressed in anti-Covid suits.

In the tent, everyone who arrives has their temperature taken. Write down passport details, phone number, address. And they strictly remind you to self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival. As for the population in Balakovo, they perceive the threat of coronavirus realistically. But not everyone wears masks on the streets.

And I had to return home the very next day. As it turned out, at the Balakovo station strict measures were imposed only for arrivals. No one took the temperature of those leaving. There were three of us traveling on the train in one compartment. I was very pleased with the latest issue of Rossiyskaya Gazeta on the table.

“This is so that passengers on the road do not get bored and are aware of all the news,” said the conductor.

In Rostov, the flow of arriving and departing passengers was divided. And if previously the entrance and exit to the station were through the building itself, now, after getting off the platform, you need to exit into the city through the gate at the first platform. There, transport police officers record passport details and train number. If a COVID-19 patient is suddenly identified among passengers, all contacts will be tracked down.

I'm fine. But I measure my temperature every day. Still, any trip today is risky. So it is better to follow self-isolation measures to protect yourself and your loved ones. And if possible, still stay at home.

But this rule only applies to traveling within Russia. When organizing a trip to another country, you will need permission documents from both parents.

It is necessary that the child can clearly explain who is accompanying him on the trip, so that the inspectors do not have questions.
