IMPORTANT

Please note that employment is carried out by appointment.

Work offline

Working offline means that you come to your workplace, perform certain functions and go home at the end of the working day. This is business as usual for most people. It is well suited for those teenagers who are looking for a part-time job for the summer.

The advantages of this type of income:

  • often no special skills are required, you can get basic knowledge in 2–3 days and start working;
  • communication with other people in a team;
  • you don’t sit at home all holidays;
  • the possibility of official employment, if you can reach an agreement with the employer.

The main disadvantage is that during the period between holidays it is quite difficult to find time for such work, but it is still possible if you really want to.

Promoter

This is one of the most popular part-time jobs for schoolchildren. The task is extremely simple - to distribute as many of the customer’s promotional products as possible. Most often, leaflets or booklets need to be distributed on the street. Sometimes it is necessary to hand them to drivers at intersections. Another option is distributing products in doorways or posting notices on special boards.

Payment is usually made daily for time worked, which helps avoid scammers who want to take advantage of free labor.

The promoter is required to have physical endurance, willingness to work in heat and cold, good mood, friendliness and politeness.

Animator

This is another suitable type of job for young people. Sometimes you need to wear funny costumes, sometimes you just need to entertain and engage with the children. It also happens that the work of an animator and promoter is combined. You may need to entertain people and hand them promotional items.

Animators are often hired by cafes, restaurants, and shopping centers for children so that adults can safely spend their money. If you are a smiling, cheerful, active and responsible person, then you may like this activity and bring a good income. You often need to work on weekends, so it is quite possible to combine this type of activity with study.

Courier

Most often, couriers now drive cars, which means this type of work is more suitable for adults. But you can also find options where you don’t need to carry heavy weights and you can travel by public transport or by bicycle.

To become a courier, you need to know the city well, be very active, resilient and friendly. You have to work in different weather conditions and meet satisfied and not so satisfied clients. You need to be prepared for this.

Mystery shopper

This is one of my first part-time jobs. We checked the work of employees in various stores, for example, in Sportmaster. It was interesting, and they also paid money. Banks, gas stations, and cafes can also hire secret shoppers.

The task of such an employee is to come under the guise of an ordinary client or buyer, test the nerves of the staff by asking various questions and identifying irregularities in the operation of the outlet. The consultation and purchase process is usually recorded on a voice recorder. This is how owners and administrators check their employees.

A mystery shopper must be attentive, responsible, adequate, be able to communicate with people, and not use obscene language. The screenshot shows examples of vacancies from the site hh.ru.

Interviewer

This is another option that older schoolchildren and students can easily work with. I didn’t avoid such activities either. We conducted surveys on the street, in stores and from the office by telephone. It was quite exciting at times, although a little scary at first, especially if you're not a very social person.

The interviewer must be polite, easily find a common language with people, be able to respond to comments and remarks, and not pay attention to criticism and inadequate reactions of some people interviewed.

Assistant Manager

This is a responsible job, and the easiest way to get a job is through someone you know. If you have a good relationship with your parents and they understand your desire to earn money on your own, ask for help with such employment. Often managers need to scan and print documents, take them to the post office, type text on a computer, maintain a database and do other simple actions that schoolchildren and students can do.

This kind of work requires care and responsibility. It’s not that easy to get a job, but if you succeed, unexpected opportunities may open up for you.

Waiter

Some of my friends got jobs as waiters during the summer holidays, some even went to the sea to work in summer cafes and restaurants. There wasn’t much time to relax there, but on one day off a week you could lie on the beach and swim for fun.

For such work you need to be polite, attentive, active, unpretentious to living conditions, and hardy. It takes quite a lot of strength to run between tables with a tray all day.

Sales

Anyone who wants can sell. You can buy something on a trading platform in China and offer it at a premium to your friends and acquaintances. Often in recreation parks, young people sell various toys for children, cotton candy or something else.

The main thing to do is to choose a product that will be in demand, and do not hesitate to offer it to friends and strangers. At one time I sold Oriflame cosmetics, I had a good boss from whom I had a lot to learn. Then there was Amway perfume, which was also quite a useful experience.

Perhaps you know how to do something cool with your own hands. Nowadays, many buyers highly value unique handmade items. This kind of work is often of interest to girls and women who know how to knit, sew, make jewelry, cards, and wedding accessories.

In sales, you need to be able to count, be persistent and purposeful, and overcome shyness and customer objections. This is a whole science, but such experience will definitely be useful to you.

Working in a holiday park

My friends went on vacation to a small park near our house. They accepted tickets from visitors and launched the rides. This is, of course, a seasonal summer job, but it may have unexpected bonuses. Sometimes we all got to ride on a variety of swings and carousels for free.

Working in the park requires attentiveness, good reactions, the ability to communicate with people, friendliness, physical endurance, and willingness to work in the heat.

Equipment repair and software installation

If you are well versed in technology, then you will always have clients, because there are many people around who cannot install an anti-virus program on their own or diagnose a malfunction.

This type of work requires appropriate knowledge and skills, communication skills, willingness to travel to clients’ homes, and patience.

Tutor

It may sound strange, but students learn best from each other. If you have a solid knowledge of mathematics or English, for example, you can offer study help to your peers or younger children for an adequate fee.

For such work you need to be patient, have deep knowledge of the subject, and be able to explain the material to another person.

This list can go on and on, but I told you about the most interesting and, most importantly, real ways to make money. All that remains is to find a suitable place and test yourself.

At what age can teenagers work?

According to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, all citizens over 14 years of age can be hired. However, a teenager can sign the agreement himself only from the age of 16.

In accordance with the law, you can hire a child who has official permission from the parents to work as a minor, who are required to provide this consent in writing. Then the teenager can be employed.

Sometimes, as an exception, it is allowed to hire a 15-year-old worker, if only the work is easy.

This means that there is no harm to health, and he must also complete full-time studies or continue to study part-time.

Also, written parental permission will be required when employing a child aged 14 years. He will only be able to work in his free time from studying.

There are certain requirements, but they are mostly unspoken and do not require mandatory fulfillment.

What does the Labor Code say?

According to Article 63 of the Labor Code, employment for this category of citizens is possible from the age of 14 , but workers at such a young age can carry out labor activities only during periods when classes are not held in schools or other educational institutions. That is, you can only conclude a fixed-term (short-term) employment contract with them.

Therefore, the optimal age to get a job is 16 years old.

It should be noted that there is one exception to the general rule. If the employment of a minor worker is related to cinema or theater, he may be hired at the age of under fourteen.

It should also be taken into account that labor legislation allows the employment of this category of workers, but does not oblige the employer to draw up an employment contract. The choice in each individual case remains with the employer; he makes the final decision.

Where can a schoolchild work in the summer?

It is obvious that a teenager will not be entrusted with work that requires special skills, knowledge and involves great responsibility. But he can apply for some vacancies and these are:

  • promoter. The most suitable part-time job option for a schoolchild during the summer months, and also one of the most profitable. The work comes down to distributing leaflets, booklets, and placing advertising materials in mailboxes or under car windshield wipers. You will have to work in a store, on the street, at presentations and exhibitions. What are the requirements for promoters? Yes, nothing special - the main thing is to be confident and charming. Payment is calculated per day or hourly;
  • courier is another profession ideal for active teenagers. It will allow you to earn extra money and spend a huge amount of energy. The essence of the work is to deliver goods (documents, etc.) from one point in the city to another. Skills - knowledge of the city, the ability to navigate in space and the ability to quickly find the desired address. Walking around the city in the fresh air is undoubtedly beneficial for a growing body, and also pays well. And in most cases the employer bears the costs of mobile communications and transport;
  • kitchen assistant, cashier, waiter, dishwasher. Young people are always needed in fast food restaurants;
  • Car washing is another popular way to earn your first money through your own labor;
  • an extra on the set of a film or television show. To get into the frame, just leave your details with film companies and advertising agencies;
  • nanny. Few people agree to leave their child with a teenager. But if among friends, acquaintances or neighbors there is a person who will entrust his child to a schoolchild for a few hours, then this will bring profit;
  • work in the mayor's squad. It has to do with the gentrification of the city. You can become an assistant to a car mechanic, correspondent, videographer and other specialists. There are teams for harvesting agricultural products from fields, landscaping the area and maintaining cleanliness. Joining the mayor's squad is a wonderful opportunity not only to earn extra money, but also to get acquainted with the profession.

As strange as it may sound, large companies are often ready to employ a schoolchild. There are vacancies for maids, pastry chef assistants, magazine and souvenir sellers, and secretarial assistants. Proposals for working with electronic databases will be interesting.

Teenagers are willing to trust advertising campaigns in stores and on the street, filling out questionnaires for marketing research. To earn extra money, schoolchildren often dress up as life-size dolls, a sandwich man, and attach advertising messages to their backs.

Talk to the Experts or Frequently Asked Questions

Children thinking about starting a working career for the first time ask many different questions. And we asked experts to answer the most popular ones.

1. Where should a student start looking for a job? First of all, you need to think about where it is better to go to work. You can ask for help from a government agency, a commercial company, or private entrepreneurs who provide employment to young people.

2. What professions are in demand among schoolchildren? Those specialties that do not require special skills are in demand. These are mainly support workers, couriers, assistant managers, assistant animators, etc.

3. At what age can you start looking for a job? You can look for it at any age, but you can start officially working only after reaching 14 years of age.

4. What must be stipulated in an employment contract? There must be information about the organization hiring. Its details, the child’s passport details, the length of the working day, the degree of responsibility and how much the minor will receive for his work are indicated. The head of the organization puts his signature and seal on the document.

5. Do summer part-time jobs count toward future work experience? The work book contains entries that are included in the total work experience, even if the child works for 1-2 months.

The legislative framework

The legislation of the Russian Federation clearly defines all the main aspects of the work of minor employees. Article 63 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation clearly states at what age and under what conditions it is possible to conclude an employment agreement.

For this social group there is also a chapter in the Labor Code , which regulates all aspects of labor for this category of the population. This includes the rights of teenagers to leave (Article 267), free annual examination by doctors (Article 69 and Article 266), employment features (Article 272, Article 70), production standards (Article 270, Article 92, Article 94). It also stipulates wages (Article 271) and guarantees upon termination of a work contract (Article 269).

There are articles in the Code that describe the prohibition of certain types of work (Article 265) and involvement in overtime work (Article 268, Article 96, Article 99).

Recommendations for a teenager

The impulse to find at least some work should not end in disappointment or damage to health. Young people do not always think about safety and other issues, so they grab any real offer, without even thinking about the legal formalization of their relationship with the employer. Such cases, unfortunately, are not rare and end sadly - non-payment of wages, psychological disorder... Therefore, young workers, remember:

  1. Request formal documentation before you begin your duties.
  2. The employer, on his own initiative, can terminate the contract, but only with the permission of the Commission on the Rights of Minors and the State Labor Inspectorate.
  3. Do not be fooled by offers from a company without a name and if they promise a large reward. This is usually how scammers act.
  4. All vacancies must be free.
  5. To avoid having to do something you are not ready for, clarify future responsibilities at the interview, talk about the immediate place of work and its nature.
  6. Be persistent in your search, because success comes to those who do not give up at the first difficulties.
  7. Develop yourself. This will allow you to find “yourself” and successfully find a job.

It is clear that you are unlikely to be able to earn a fortune in a couple of months, but for pocket money it is quite enough. And if you’re lucky, the money you earn will be enough for the purchase you’ve long dreamed of.

How to find a part-time job for a teenager

The first question is where and how to look for part-time jobs, where to start.

First, you should check well-known job search services - HeadHunter, SuperJob, Avito. In the settings, indicate part-time work, choose a job for teenagers or one that does not exceed four hours a day. If all the options you found do not suit you, then move on. Now that instant messengers are flourishing and generation Z is actively using social networks, you can look for part-time work there. Look for thematic groups on Facebook or Telegram; usually experienced recruiters advise finding closed communities, joining them and communicating directly with the participants. Even if it doesn’t work out with your part-time job, you will improve your soft skills.

Read on the topic: “Where students can look for jobs online”

Another way to find a part-time job is through freelance exchanges. You don’t have to be a cool programmer and developer, write long custom articles or create complex websites. Sometimes you come across simple orders for a couple of hours a day - to make a presentation, edit a photo, write short notes for the employer’s account on social networks. The main thing to remember is that part-time work should not interfere with your studies or harm your health.

Labor of minors in summer

With the onset of summer time, the school year ended for schoolchildren. In this connection, high school students who have reached the age of 14 will have a real opportunity to take a break from the educational process and earn a little extra money over the summer. Everyone understands that minors, like adults, can enter into labor relations only of their own free will. In addition, the consent of students alone is not enough; it is also necessary to have the consent of one of the parents, or legal representatives from among the guardians or trustees (Article 63 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation (hereinafter referred to as the Labor Code of the Russian Federation).

As part of the State Program of the Tambov Region “Promoting Employment of the Population” for 2014-2020, measures are being implemented to organize temporary employment of minor citizens aged 14 to 18 years in their free time from school. As a rule, employment of minors is carried out not by schools, but by employment centers under municipal administrations. Educational institutions can only provide information support in the form of conveying information to students about the possibility of finding a job in their free time from study and where to go to obtain more detailed information about employment.

Employment centers at the administrations of municipalities, engaged in the employment of citizens, attract minors to light types of work (for example, landscaping, landscaping, social assistance for the elderly and disabled, advertising distribution, archival support work and other types of work. Of course, teenagers can do other types of work. work, but it should not be prohibited by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of February 25, 2000 No. 163 “On approval of the list of heavy work and work with harmful or dangerous working conditions, during which the use of labor by persons under eighteen years of age is prohibited”). But prohibited work includes work, for example, performed inside ordinary greenhouses.

The work of minors is subject to the mandatory conclusion of an employment contract with them. To conclude an employment contract with a minor, it is enough to present the employer with a passport, as well as an insurance certificate of compulsory pension insurance and a document on education (if available). At the same time, a probationary period for hiring is not established for persons under 18 years of age (Article 70 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation). However, such persons, when concluding an employment contract with an employer, undergo a mandatory preliminary medical examination (Article 69 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation). In addition, reduced working hours are established for minors. Thus, for workers under the age of sixteen, working time is set at no more than 24 hours per week, and for workers aged sixteen to eighteen years, working time per week is no more than 35 hours.

The work of teenagers is paid in proportion to the time worked or depending on output (Article 271 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation). In this case, production standards are established based on general standards in proportion to the reduced working hours established for teenagers (Article 270 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation). The employer has the right, at his own expense, to pay teenagers up to the wage level of adult workers in the corresponding categories for the full duration of daily work.

Along with remuneration, employers are responsible for providing adolescents with all benefits, guarantees and compensation provided for by law.

As we can see, work for schoolchildren is voluntary. Schools cannot force students to enter into an employment relationship with anyone. It is necessary to respond decisively to such violations, for example, by contacting the prosecutor's office.

Part-time work for teenagers 14 years old

14 years old is the age when teenagers can officially work. First, we advise you to go to the leaders at the school and ask them about part-time jobs. If nothing is found at school, the next step is to visit the youth employment center in your city. Typically, in such places, employees help you find a suitable vacancy, write a resume, and pass career guidance testing.

An alternative way to earn money is to take simple surveys. It takes little time, and the money is paid immediately to your mobile phone, from which you can withdraw it to any card.

Internet work

It would be surprising if in our information age the Internet did not give even a schoolchild a chance to earn money. However, you shouldn’t think that money will come here on its own – you will have to make an effort. Of course, it won’t be walking under the scorching sun dressed as a sandwich man, but serious programming knowledge is not required either. There are two important components - the desire to earn money and access to the Internet with good speed.

You can conduct a video blog showing something interesting and useful. True, you will have to shoot a video, edit it and post it on the website. “Posters” is work that involves registering on sites, communicating, and writing specific posts on the network. Participating in paid surveys, watching advertisements and filling out questionnaires - this does not require knowledge or skills, but only time and perseverance.

The most profitable activity from the category of low-skilled Internet professions is posting on forums and attracting referrals, from which earnings a percentage will be deposited into the account. If you have at least basic skills in processing photo and video materials from open sources, then they can be used to search and arrange content for Internet sites. This kind of work is also paid.

There are no guarantees that the teenager will receive payment in full on time or whether he will receive it at all. But if everything goes well, then the funds earned will be enough to pay for the Internet and mobile communications.

Earning money on the Internet

One of the most popular types of income nowadays. Without leaving home, you can earn the same amount as adults, build a career, and even open your own business without investing a penny.

We have already talked in detail about how a teenager can make money on the Internet: there are links to the best sites where there is no deception.

Here are the main options:

  1. Work as a copywriter (rewriter). Writing articles will require a high level of literacy, perseverance and desire to constantly engage in this activity.
  2. Maintain your blog on topics that are relevant and important to the public.
  3. Write comments.
  4. Stream.
  5. Like, repost, solve captcha.
  6. You can participate in paid surveys.
  7. Open your channel on YouTube.
  8. Watch movies and listen to music for a fee.
  9. Open your own online store, be a distributor in large trading companies.
  10. Deal with websites, promotion, design, etc.

On the Internet, it doesn’t matter how old you are. The main thing is hard work, dedication and a desire to constantly learn and be interested in new technologies.

Where can I find a summer job?

This question is best asked in late spring or early summer. Finding a job is not easy even for adults, let alone teenagers without experience and knowledge. The main thing is not to despair. You can start your search by asking your friends. It may very well be that one of the parents of friends is looking for an employee in the office for the position of courier, promoter, etc. This will be an excellent start to your working career.

If the first search option did not bring the desired results, then you should look at the advertisements on boards, in newspapers and magazines. Surprisingly, many companies continue to look for employees in this way.

Employees of the Employment Center will help with temporary employment, and they will also ensure that the teenager’s rights are not violated. The institution's services are free. You can also contact a recruiting agency, but this is paid.

It’s impossible not to mention the most convenient and modern way to find a job – the Internet. Employers post advertisements online on specialized resources, where they try to tell in detail about the vacancy and working conditions. Some sites help you conduct interviews online.

Documentation for employment

List of required documents:

  • consent of the closest relative or guardian (if the employee is under 14 years of age);
  • permission from the guardianship authorities, which specifies the length of time allowed for work;
  • identification;
  • work book;
  • medical certificate;
  • diploma or certificate of specialized experience and knowledge (for a position requiring special training);
  • information from the school with the specified class schedule (not completed school);
  • insurance certificate (for teenagers 15-18 years old).

Is it permissible under Russian legislation to employ minors?

To answer this question, it is enough to refer to the disposition of Article 63 of the Labor Code, which directly provides for such a possibility. Organizations can accept and formally enroll employees of this category, and this will not be considered a violation. But this year, much will depend on the form of labor and the current age of the potential staff member.

All activities and rules for hiring minors directly depend on the expected nature of the work, as well as on age, which must be taken into account. This is precisely the main specificity of the described legal relations.

Conditions for hiring minors

On a permanent basis, employment is expected only from 16 years of age. A full-fledged employment contract can be concluded with such a staff unit, without significant restrictions. From this age, parental consent will not be required.

But here it is important to note one exception: recruitment cannot be carried out if the performance of duties is associated with certain risk factors

Such employees cannot be hired for harmful or life-threatening work. Moreover, it is prohibited to use their labor if it requires special training - by the age of 16 the subject will not physically have time to receive the necessary training.

In addition, again under standard conditions and without any special features, the labor of 14-year-old subjects can currently be used. But here the mandatory consent of his parents will be required, and the very nature of the duties should not imply even indirect receipt of any harm. At the same time, the total working day here will be shortened - no more than 4 hours of continuous activity. The specifics of hiring minors prohibit the execution of agreements in any form that would be detrimental to the procedure for obtaining education by the hired subject.

Risks and benefits of summer part-time work for schoolchildren

Use a child’s labor and, taking advantage of his gullibility, leave him without payment. The consequences of such deception for a fragile psyche can be very serious, because the child may become disillusioned with honest work and people. And for the employer the temptation is quite great. How can a teenager avoid becoming a victim?

When going to a meeting with a potential employer, it doesn't hurt to learn about your rights and privileges. It’s even better if the child comes to the meeting with his parents. It often happens that a teenager does not tell his parents about his part-time jobs. Having experienced lawyers on staff, it will not be difficult to deceive such a child.

What if rights are still violated? Lawyers advise resolving conflict situations with employers through the Commission on the Rights of Minors, and in some cases you can go straight to court. Moreover, this applies regardless of whether there is an employment contract or not.

As for parents, they must make sure that work will in no way harm the health of their child. There are, of course, positive aspects to the work of a teenager. First of all, he learns responsibility, acquires important communication skills that will be useful in the future, learns to value money, and gets rid of the passion for useless acquisitions.

To avoid getting into trouble, you should not send your student to people who offer:

  • training on a paid basis;
  • probationary period (it is not required by law);
  • purchasing any parts to assemble items.

When looking for a summer part-time job, you need to be wary of scammers, because it should be a source of earning money, and not a way of enrichment for the employer. Parents must make sure that the child will work in a safe environment and will not be deceived.

Working for Generation Z

I told my son everything that I wrote just now, and it made him laugh a lot. The child said that I was behind the times, stuck in the Paleolithic. It turns out that today teenagers can earn money without leaving home, using the Internet. Off the top of my head, my son told me several ways:

  • register on the online exchange, write texts;
  • through Internet services (for example, Kwork) take tasks to watch advertisements, transcribe audio recordings into text, etc.;
  • play games (strategies, shooting games, etc.): there are users who will buy virtual resources for real money and other sources of income;
  • streaming: show gaming videos on your own channel, get paid for advertising, viewer subscriptions, etc.

I was shocked: my son already spends 3-4 hours every day in the virtual world. If he starts earning money there, I won’t see the child at all. But what finally finished me off was the earnings of professional gamers. I didn’t take his word for it, so I went to double check:

I understand that at first the income figures will be different, but if my son starts earning even $100 a month from “toys,” then what’s next? I'm afraid that he will go headlong into the virtual world. What about school, college?

What documents does a minor need when applying for a job?

Until the age of 16, the rules for providing documents are special. First of all, here you will only need to have the written consent of the parents of the hired subject, as well as his passport. In some cases, permission/consent of territorial guardianship authorities may be required. But even in this case, the consent of the parents to hire a minor must appear. If we are talking about the food segment, then according to the rules, a completed medical certificate will also be required to hire a minor. Among the formal documents, you can also note the application in the local form.

What does the child labor law say?

What to hide is that employers are reluctant to hire a minor, because they are entitled to many more privileges than an adult employee. According to current legislation, a contract can only be concluded with a person who has reached the age of 16.

  • employees under 16 years of age are allowed to work no more than 24 hours a week;
  • if the age is from 16 to 18 years – 35 hours per week

And regarding the duration of the work shift, the law established the following restrictions:

  • 15-16 year old employees can work no more than 5 hours;
  • By the age of 16-18, the shift duration increases to 7 hours.

By the way, work can be carried out on a flexible schedule, and in this case the duration of the shift or day is stipulated by the terms of the contract. Leave for minors is granted regardless of whether they have worked for 6 months or not. The duration of the vacation is 31 days. An employer, when concluding an employment contract with a minor, must remember his other privileges:

  • annual paid leave cannot be denied;
  • recall from vacation;
  • replace paid leave with monetary compensation.

Did you know that an employment contract can be concluded with schoolchildren under 14 years of age? Theatres, cinema organizations, circuses, theatrical and concert organizations take schoolchildren to perform or create concert numbers and filming. This is possible only on the condition that such activities do not harm the health of the teenager and do not affect his moral development. Naturally, there must be permission from the parents or guardianship authority.
