In normal practice, no fines or fees are charged for forced returns. In what cases is it possible to issue it:

  • flight cancellation or delay for more than 3 hours;
  • illness of the passenger (it is necessary to provide medical documents confirming contraindications for the flight on the date of departure);
  • death of a close relative of the passenger (you must provide proof of relationship and a death certificate);
  • death of a passenger.

The airline will only consider a refund application if you notify the carrier of your cancellation of the flight. This must be done no later than check-in for the flight ends. You can do this either directly with the airline or through Ozon.travel by filling out an application for an involuntary refund (the minimum processing time for an urgent application for a refund is 4 hours).

Each case is considered individually and must be agreed with the airline. We will refund the money immediately after the airline confirms the forced refund. Typically, the airline considers such applications on average within a month; for foreign carriers and some Russian carriers, the review period can be up to 90 days.

None of the Russian airlines considers visa refusal to be grounds for forced return. For foreigners flying to Russia, money will not be returned if a visa is refused by Iberia, SN Brussels (Brussels Airlines), SAS. Of course, airlines that do not operate flights to Russia will also not refund your ticket for this reason.

Deadlines

The sooner a passenger contacts the airline with a decision to cancel the flight, the greater the chance of getting their money back:

  1. Earlier than one day before the flight departure , the full cost of the ticket is refunded, excluding fines and fees and commissions of the payment system (if provided for by the rules of a particular airline).
  2. Less than 24 hours before the plane's departure - the refund amount will be only a percentage of the cost of the air ticket (with the exception of expensive tickets, where the full amount is refunded even after the flight departs).

An urgent refund request must be submitted prior to check-in. Afterwards, increased penalties for returning an electronic ticket begin to apply.

Voluntary refund of air ticket

All cases that do not fall within the definition of involuntary return are considered voluntary return. If you decide to issue a voluntary return, then:

  • indicate the method of refund;
  • check the return consent box;
  • Click on the “Submit Return Request” button.

Available ticket refund options will be offered automatically depending on how you paid for your order.

In case of voluntary return the following will be withheld:

  • airline fine (if the ticket fare provides for this);
  • Ozon.travel fee for issuing a ticket, if it was included in the price upon sale;
  • Ozon.travel fee for processing a refund (is not withheld when returning tickets for infants).

The amount of the fee depends on how much money the airline will return to you, on the method of purchasing tickets, and also on what level of Ozon.travel service support applies to your order.
