Autobiography for school (sample)

An autobiography is a free-form description of the life path, main stages and important achievements. Despite its apparent simplicity, drafting a document even for an adult raises many questions: “Where to start?”, “How to write better?”, “How to format it correctly?” and so on.

For a schoolchild, whose completed educational institutions include only kindergarten, and no work experience to speak of at all, writing an autobiography often becomes an absolutely impossible task. To help young writers prepare a document, it is necessary to provide them with a step-by-step guide with an exemplary visual example.

Why do you need an autobiography?

An autobiography is one of the mandatory documents that the Guardianship Authority requests from a candidate for guardianship who has applied...

  1. to obtain an opinion on the right to be a guardian of a minor child (according to clause 4 of the “Rules...”, approved by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 423);
  2. to obtain an opinion on the right to be a guardian of an adult incompetent (elderly, mentally ill) person (according to clause 4 of the “Rules...” approved by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 927);
  3. for the adoption of a child ;

  • education and work;
  • financial situation;
  • household improvement;
  • marital status;
  • character and moral qualities,

and make a decision on the ability to care for a child or helpless adult, and the ability to perform the duties of a guardian, trustee, adoptive parent.

Therefore, the preparation of an autobiography must be approached with all seriousness and responsibility.

How to write an autobiography for school

There are no uniform forms and rules for writing an autobiography for school. However, when drawing up a document, you should still adhere to certain recommendations:

  • format the text correctly, with elements of a business style, legible handwriting, without punctuation, spelling and other errors;
  • Corrections and blots are not allowed, and the use of green, red and other colored paste, except blue or black, for writing is also prohibited;
  • The volume of the autobiography is no more than two A4 sheets;
  • the information provided must be complete and must contain your full name, date and place of birth, information about family members;
  • Laconically and at the same time describe in detail extremely significant events from your life;

  • It is allowed to present an autobiography in any form, but it is necessary to take into account the sequence of the narrative.

Supporting documents

The form and content of an autobiography are aimed at a free and complete description of important circumstances and life events, personal qualities, achievements, skills and motives . However, this does not mean that the document can remain unfounded. All information contained in the autobiography must be confirmed...

  • personal data (full name, date and place of birth, place of permanent residence) - a civil passport;
  • education data - certificates, diplomas, certificates;
  • data on marital status - certificates of marriage or divorce, death certificates;
  • information about children – birth certificates;
  • data on work experience - work book, employment contract, certificate of registration with the Employment Center, pension certificate;
  • additional data - diplomas, awards, certificates, certificates.

But there is no need to submit these documents to the Guardianship Authority as confirmation (unless the representative of the Guardianship Authority himself requests the certificate, certificate, or certificate he needs for confirmation).

The package of documents that a candidate for guardianship or trustee must submit to the Guardianship Authority, including an autobiography, is contained in clause 4 of the “Rules...”, approved by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 423 (if a minor child is taken under guardianship) and clause 4 of the “Rules...” , approved by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 927 (if an adult is taken under guardianship).

What to include in your autobiography for school

The document must begin with the word “AUTOBIOGRAPHY”, without a period at the end. In the main part of the autobiography for school, it is recommended to set out the following main points:

  • last name, first name and patronymic (in full);
  • date and place of birth;
  • information about graduation from kindergarten (name and year of graduation);
  • information about previous educational institutions (with a note about the name of each educational institution, date of admission and graduation);
  • up-to-date information about the name and number of the school currently attended, date of admission and class profile;
  • information about marital status and immediate relatives (parents, siblings) indicating the full name, date of birth, position and place of work of each;
  • description of the main achievements at school, namely: participation in sports competitions, Olympiads, diplomas received and other awards;
  • information about your criminal record regarding yourself and your immediate family.

Additionally, you can also provide the following information:

  • information about your favorite school subjects and interesting hobbies;
  • a note on foreign language skills;
  • knowledge of useful computer programs (in addition to games).

The last line of your autobiography should include:

  • on the left – the date the document was compiled;
  • on the right – the author’s surname and initials;
  • in the center - personal signature.

Below is an indicative visual example of writing an autobiography for school. If desired, the executor can change or supplement the document with certain important information, and is also allowed to present the information in a different order. The main conditions: write truthfully and to the point, as legibly as possible, competently and logically.

How to write an autobiography for OOP

The document must be submitted to the OOP in cases where:

  • an application is submitted for the issuance by the guardianship and trusteeship authorities of an opinion on the applicant’s ability to become a candidate for guardianship of a minor child or adoptive parents;
  • an application is submitted for the issuance of a conclusion by the OPP on the ability of the applicant to become a guardian of an adult incapacitated person.

Thus, not a single applicant, without writing an autobiography, will be able to take care of a minor child, or take care of an incapacitated person, even a close relative. That is why such attention is paid to the design of an autobiography.

Compilation rules

An autobiography is like a self-portrait of a person claiming to raise a child, but not drawn with a pencil or paints, but stated in words. In this document, the applicant sets out all the significant events in his life from the very beginning (born on such and such a date in such and such a year in such and such a place) to the current time. The document is drawn up in any form, there are no legislatively prescribed samples for writing an autobiography, but in some Russian regions special templates for autobiographies have been developed, but candidates for guardians have the right to draw up a document, without relying on these templates, on their own.

So, let's look at some rules for writing an autobiography:

  1. The reliability of all information contained in the document. In order to confirm the authenticity of what is written in the document, PLO employees can request from the applicant or from any government agency any documents certifying the stated facts. Naturally, if some false facts are revealed, then this will not increase the chances of adoption or registration of guardianship, rather the opposite.
  2. Maintaining the chronology of events. All events must be described in the sequence in which they actually occurred. For example, it is unacceptable to first indicate the date of divorce, and then the date of entry into this marriage, which was dissolved.
  3. An autobiography is not a resume when applying for a job. Therefore, in this document the emphasis is not on the professional qualities of the applicant, but on the personal ones.
  4. In order for PLO employees to understand as best as possible what the applicant is like, it is worth indicating the hobbies, interests, and hobbies of the candidate for guardianship. For example, if a female applicant points out that she sews and knits well, and also loves to cook, then this will characterize her as a good housewife, capable of giving her student excellent housekeeping skills.
  5. Don't write too much. A story of ten pages is unlikely to characterize the applicant better than a summary of one or two pages.
  6. It is advisable to maintain a business style of presentation. Too many introductory words and sentences, as well as lyrical digressions from the point, will not make an autobiography better.

Shape and structure

A prerequisite is the written form of the document.
The applicant can write the autobiography by hand or print it out; in any case, the applicant’s handwritten signature must be present at the end of the document. That is why submitting an electronic CV is not allowed. Required CV points:

  • Full name of the applicant;
  • date and place of his birth;
  • information about the applicant’s parents (their full name, date and place of birth, who they are by profession);
  • Family status;
  • if available, the number of natural or adopted children and information about each of them (full name and date of birth);
  • the applicant's place of work.

Registration procedure

The established practice of establishing guardianship over minors provides for several rules for drawing up an autobiography, namely:

  1. A statement of information about the applicant and facts from his biography. It is not worth repeating that all information must be absolutely truthful. Only facts that are of direct importance to the applicant’s biography should be announced, for example, information about marriage or divorce, work activity, existing children, etc.
  2. Maintain conciseness in presentation.
  3. Document preparation. There are no strict requirements for the design of an autobiography, but it will be more expedient if the applicant types the text on a computer and then prints it out. Especially if the applicant has illegible handwriting.
  4. Compliance with frequency and time frames. For example, “From 2009 to 2021, I worked in ___ in the position of ___, then transferred to the position of ___ at the same enterprise. I am currently working in this position.”

Sequence of presentation

Let's talk a little more about the sequence of events. It is advisable to divide the applicant’s life into several periods:

  1. Birth. Here the applicant indicates the date and place of birth, information about immediate relatives (parents, brothers and sisters).
  2. Studies. In this block, the applicant indicates all the educational institutions in which he studied (school, college, institute or university) in the order in which the training took place. It is necessary to indicate the locality in which the educational institution is located, the date of admission and the date of completion of studies there. Studying in all educational institutions is described in this order.
  3. Labor activity. The applicant must list the periods in which he worked in each enterprise and in each position and the name of these enterprises. In cases where there are many such places of work, it would be more advisable to indicate the first place of work (as the beginning of work) and the last two or three (the current place of work must be included here).
  4. Family status. All dates of marriages and divorces, periods of widowhood are indicated. If there are children, the dates of birth of each of them. If the children are from different spouses, it is necessary to indicate which of them was born from which spouse.
  5. The reason why the applicant applies to the OOP. The presence of a separate application for the issuance of an opinion on the possibility of taking custody or adopting a child does not mean that the applicant cannot indicate the reason for the application in the autobiography. Moreover, a brief statement of this reason is considered appropriate in some cases.

For example, the applicant’s autobiography states that she has been married to her husband for more than ten years, and during this time the spouses were unable to give birth to their children, since the wife (or husband) was infertile. The father wants to accept a child under the age of three into the family in order to raise him as his own child.

Some nuances of writing an autobiography:

  1. The date of compilation of the document is indicated in the lower left corner, and the signature is indicated in the lower right corner of the autobiography.
  2. All institutions that the applicant mentions in the CV must be indicated in full and not by abbreviation. For example: I studied at the Moscow State Forestry University, and not at MSUL;
  3. I work at a woodworking plant, not at a woodworking plant.
  • Everything that happened earlier must be described in the past tense (studied, worked, entered, etc.).
  • Everything that is happening at the present time is designated as such (I work, live, study, etc.).
  • For women: if the applicant has changed her last name, this must be indicated. The last name must be announced before it was changed, as well as when and for what reason it was changed.
  • The text must be written in the first person singular. The beginning of the document is standard: “I, full name, was born (born) ...”

Sample autobiography for school

I, Vadim Stanislavovich Krugovoy, was born on January 10, 2002 in the city of Anapa, Krasnodar Territory. Currently I live at the address: Stavropol, st. Nekrasova, 20, apt. 45.

father - Stanislav Semenovich Krugovoy, born in 1980, programmer in the city of Stavropol;

mother – Elena Vitalievna Krugovaya, born in 1979, history teacher at gymnasium No. 25 in Stavropol;

brother - Igor Stanislavovich Krugovoy, born in 1999, first-year student at Stavropol State Agrarian University;

sister – Krugovaya Anna Stanislavovna, born in 2014.

From 2005 to 2009 he attended kindergarten “Ladushki” No. 2 in Anapa, Krasnodar Territory. In 2009, in the same city, I entered the first grade of secondary school No. 3. Due to the relocation of my family, in 2011 I transferred to secondary school No. 5 in the city of Stavropol, where I am currently studying in the ninth grade.

In 2015, he took third place at the regional physics Olympiad, and in 2021, first place at the city competition in mathematics.

I'm interested in karate. For three and a half years I have been involved in the school sports section and take part in competitions. I have been actively studying English since I was four years old and have a certificate of attendance at relevant language courses.

I have never been registered with the police in the children's room before. The relatives were not involved in the trial or investigation and have no criminal records.

Of course, the above autobiography is only an approximate sample. You can supplement it with your own data (for example, that you have a minor brother or sister, close disabled relatives, or you are the only breadwinner in the family). The main thing is to take responsibility when writing an autobiography for school. After all, even dry lines can say a lot about you as a person!

    Autobiography of a schoolchild: structure, how to write, sample

    A student’s autobiography is a free-form document that contains detailed information about the student, his life path and achievements. This document is created for admission to a specialized educational institution or upon request to other organizations. Despite its simplicity, there are still several effective recommendations and rules for the preparation of this document.

    How to write a student’s autobiography: recommendations and structure

    In order not to miss important points in a student’s autobiography, you need to know and strictly adhere to the standard structure of its compilation. The structure of an autobiography for a schoolchild involves several points:

    1. At the very beginning, you should introduce yourself and clearly indicate your personal information. Example: “I, last name, first name, patronymic, was born on October 13, 2003 in the town of Babino, Moscow region.”
    2. After this, you must provide information about all family members, including brothers and sisters. For parents, it will be necessary to indicate their place of work, and in the case of brothers and sisters, if they are studying, then indicate the place of study.
    3. Now the student must write about his education, indicating the year of graduation (in this case, graduation from kindergarten).
    4. It is important that the student’s autobiography reveals all the stages of life, which are presented in chronological order (what happened after what). Here you must write about the beginning of schooling with the full name of the school and class.
    5. If there are achievements in certain areas of life (competitions, olympiads, competitions, etc.), they should also be mentioned.
    6. Additionally, you can write about your hobbies and skills.
    7. At the very end, the date of compilation and a personal signature are placed.

    To make the process of writing a document easier, you can use a ready-made example.

    What is an autobiography and why is it needed?

    An autobiography is a document that sets out in writing a person's important life events in chronological order. The presentation of this document is required in many organizations where it is necessary to know how well a person meets certain qualities necessary to perform certain duties.

    This document is especially important for the guardianship and trusteeship authority when choosing an applicant for guardianship, therefore it is included in the list of mandatory documents for submission to this authority. The purpose of its presentation to this institution is:

    • identifying the personal qualities of a candidate for guardianship;
    • checking the authenticity of the documents presented to the facts stated in the autobiography.

    An inspector studying a candidate’s documents first of all gets acquainted with his autobiography, analyzing the facts presented in it from the point of view of compliance of a person’s moral qualities with generally accepted criteria. In addition, he checks how accurately the data attached, in addition to the biography of the documents, corresponds to the information specified in it.

    Writing rules

    There are no specific requirements from the legislation of the Russian Federation on how to write an autobiography, but there are quite clear recommendations on how to write it correctly. There are several formats:

    • filling out a form with the guardianship authorities according to a sample form, which can be downloaded on the official website of the institution;
    • in a free presentation, in the form of a story, by hand;
    • printout after typing on the computer.

    The law does not determine the length of the document, but when composing an autobiography, the writer must reflect the most important milestones of his life. The biography is filled out in the shortest, most concise form possible.
